I got a chance to try it out at Best Buy this evening. It was fun, and I managed a personal best of 88% playing John's Rickenbacker on "Can't Buy Me Love." I'm not going to shell out for it, however, since we don't need the expense, we don't need the clutter, and we don't even have a platform for it. We're still happy with our hand-me-down Playstation I. |

TVtropes.org - "This wiki is a catalog of the tricks of the trade for writing fiction. We dip into the cauldron of story, whistle up a hearty spoonful and splosh it in front of you to devour to your heart's content."
It's fascinating for any media geek - you don't have to be a fiction writer. One link leads to another, and you could spend hours there. Thanks for the recommendation (I think), many_simulacra. |

| | The Beatles - Love to You | ] | I've always considered "Here Comes the Sun" a better song than "Something" and have long wondered why the latter Harrison contribution to Abbey Road is more lauded than the former. |

| | The Pet Shop Boys - Discoteca | ] | Greg, several of our friends, and I saw the Pet Shop Boys last night at the House of Blues near Fenway Park. Fortunately it wasn't a game day, so we were able to drive in. The doors opened at 7:00pm, and the show didn't start until around 8:40pm (there was no opening act). We didn't mind, though, because the people watching was great - it would be only a slight exaggeration to say that every gay man in Boston was there.
The show itself was incredible, a truly awesome multimedia extravaganza with four amazing dancers/backup singers, a deceptively simple set, and great use of video. Neil Tennant isn't the most animated singer in the world, but he was in great voice and really seemed to enjoy performing. Chris Lowe stayed behind his keyboards and computer as usual but did come out to dance at one point, to great applause. They performed songs from their latest CD Yes as well as most of their best-known numbers, including my favorite PSBs song, "Se a vida é (That's the way life is)" from their Bilingual CD. The crowd loved them, and the guys seemed appreciative.
After the show we went to the bear bar The Alley near Downtown Crossing, which we'd never been to before. It was crowded but fun, and we saw several of the guys who'd also been at the show there. |

| | The Jam - A Town Called Malice | ] | I've come to the conclusion that the Slitheen on Doctor Who and the Sarah Jane adventures are the Whoniverse equivalent of the Ferengi in the Trekverse. They might have originally been intended as threatening, but they're just really, really annoying. |

Every rock/alternative music fan should listen to these - the first four, in particular, are seminal. I recommend previewing them at iTunes or Amazon - you'll want to hear more.
1. Here Come the Warm Jets 2. Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy 3. Another Green World 4. Before and After Science 5. Wrong Way Up |

If you're appalled that companies use taxpayer money to pay bonuses, while denying the middle class the right to negotiate for better wages and health care, please call your Senators today to ask them to support this bill.

ME: I wonder what Malia and Sasha are doing while their parents are attending the Inaugural Balls? GREG: Probably running up and down the halls of the White House yelling, "Wheeeee!" ME: That's what I'd be doing. GREG: Me too. |
